Cape Tribulation (also referred to as Cape Trib) is a headland, in northern Queensland 110km north of Cairns. It is located within the Daintree National Park and contains a small number of tourism resorts and backpacker hostels.Cape Tribulation covers 16 965 ha and has breathtaking beauty - rugged mountain ranges rising sharply behind the narrow coastal strip, lush green rainforest rolling down the mountains to the sandy beaches, and a variety of flora including the ancient species of fern which have been on earth for over 100 million years.
History of Cape Tribulation
The traditional owners of the area are the Kuku Yalanji people. The cape was named by British explorer Lt. James Cook on 10 June 1770 after his ship ran aground on a reef near the site, "because here began all our Troubles".
