Travel overland through Thailand and Cambodia, explore Siem Reap and Phnom Penh through to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). During your free day at Siem Reap you can explore the World Heritage Site of Angkor. From Phnom Penh you’ll continue by boat to Vietnam staying in a traditional Vietnamese home stay. Explore the Mekong Delta before arriving in Saigon.

Day 1 : Bangkok – Siem Reap (Wed / Sun)
Today you wil transfer by minibus from your Bangkok hotel to Aranyaprathet border crossing (Poi Pet) at 7am. Once your Thai immigration/customs is complete you will cross the border to obtain your Cambodian visa (US$20 pp).

By private car or minibus, a ClubBackpacker representative will transfer you to Siem Reap which should take around 3-4 hours.

This Morning, focus on the Angkor Thom Complex, including Phimeanakas, Baphuon, the Terrace of the Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King and finally the Bayon, with its mysterious towers and beautiful bas reliefs.

After lunch (own expense) explore Angkor Wat, the largest and most breathtaking monument at Angkor. Built as the funeral temple for King Suryavarman II, who ruled from 1112 to 1152, Angkor Wat never fails to reward the first time or repeat visitor with its grand scale, surreal bas reliefs and unbelievable attention to detail. Spend the late afternoon and sunset hours exploring one of humankind's most magnificent creations.

Day 3 : Siem Reap – Phnom Penh (Fri / Sat)
After breakfast transfer to the main bus station (approximately US$8 by taxi) before catching the public bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. This journey takes approximately 7-8 hours. Departure times: 07:30, 08:30, 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 13:30, 14:00. Upon arrival at the Phnom Penh bus station transfer to hotel (approximately US$12 by taxi).

Day 4 : Phnom Penh - Chau Doc (Sat/ Wed)
Today, you will transfer to the pier of Chau Doc at 12pm. Here you will need a valid Vietnamese visa. After finishing the necessary immigration and customs formalities at the Cambodian and Vietnamese checkpoint you will continue to Chau Doc by boat. The Hang Chau boat moors within walking distance to the hotel or you could catch a local taxi (approximately US$1.50)

Day 5 : Chau Doc - Vinh Long homestay Sun / Thu
Chau Doc - Cantho - Vinh Long (join-in bus)
This morning you will join the group for a scenic drive via Long Xuyen to Vinh Long, ending at the home stay on An Binh island finishing at Vinh Long pier. Your ClubBackpacker representative will transfer you by boat for your village stay on An Binh Island. Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal for dinner.

Day 6 : Vinh Long homestay - Caibe - Saigon Monday / Friday
Mekong Delta
Cruise the canals, rivers and backwaters and discover how the local people live. We’ll visit family- run businesses, which include rice paper, popcorn and popped rice factory. In this region, the Mekong Delta is famous for fish sauce, soy sauce, tofu and clay floor tiles. Here will learn the process involved in making these products.

You will cruise past a congested flotilla of boats selling all manner of fruit and vegetables at Cai Be’s floating market, one of the most beautiful markets in Mekong delta to rendezvous with the bus to Saigon. The driver will drop you off at the hotel.
