Visit the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti National Park and then on to Zanzibar for some beach time or watersports activities.

Day 1: Monday
Leaving Nairobi at 8am we head out across the Athi Plains where we may see some of the plains game such as Thomson or Grant's gazelle. We cross the border into Tanzania at Namanga where the Masai ladies will try to sell you their copper bracelets. After the border a glimpse to the right may afford you a view of Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.

Day 2 & 3: Tuesday & Wednesday
Today you have the option to go to the Serengeti Park & Ngorongoro Crater. We take 4x4 vehicles with a guide to cross the Rift Valley, passing through the Crater to the vast plains of the Serengeti to look for animals and spend the night on the plains. We spend the next day game driving through the park and climb to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. The two nights camping in the parks are very basic but very exciting, the Serengeti camp is right in the middle of the park and the camp on the crater rim is cold and high in the clouds, when the mist clears - amazing.

Early in the morning we descend to the heart of the crater to see the game. The Crater is a collapsed, extinct volcano, thousands of years old and supports a wide range of wildlife. It's an excellent place getting close to the animals, as in a small area there is a high concentration of animals un-afraid of vehicles. After lunch we leave the crater and re-cross the floor of the Rift Valley to Arusha The camp has good facilities, a bar and restaurant.

Day 4: Thursday
After an early morning game drive along the floor of the crater we will stop for refreshments at one of the hippo pools, where you may see one of the hippo's with it's feet in the air as it wallows in the mud. We then begin the drive back out and down to our campsite in Arusha for a well earned shower and dinner.

* For those not wanting to do the above option you can stay at the campsite, visit Arusha National Park, drop into town or ask the driver to suggest other activities.

Day 5: Friday
Today is a long day drive past Mount Kilimanjaro, the windswept plains and the impressive Usambara mountains to finish in the humid and bustling city of Dar es Salaam. Here on the Indian Ocean coast we can try some of the fine seafood on offer and relax in the shade of the coconut palm.

Day 6: Saturday
An early morning ferry ride takes us over to the spice island of Zanzibar and the narrow streets of Stone Town. The House of Wonders, prominent on the sea front had electricity before London. It's winding streets hold a plethora of wonder both antique and new and may lead you to the old slave market or the new bustling food market.

Day 7: Sunday
Before it gets too hot a Spice Tour is the order of the day. A great chance to see where the island gets it's name and the opportunity to try some fruits and spices you may never have seen. After lunch at a local house, you will then be taken up to the northern most beach at Nungwi, where white sandy beaches and crystal blue water will greet you.

Day 8: Monday
A day to yourself, where you can decide on the pace. There are plenty of activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving and boat trips. There is also a turtle sanctuary to visit and the lighthouse to see. If not, sit back grab a coconut and watch the local ladies and their wonderful fishing technique.

Day 9: Tuesday
Spend the morning walking along the beach and soaking up the chilled out atmosphere before heading off after lunch back to Stone Town for a chance to visit the fantastic night time food market. All the days catches are displayed and cooked before your eyes, a veritable feast to behold.

Day 10: Wednesday
A lazy morning and then the last chance to go shopping for all the souvenirs you'll need to remind of this trip. There is also the chance to see the Red Colobus monkeys of Jozani Forest, or take a trip to Prison Island to see the giant turtles. After lunch though we head back to Dar on the Ferry where we end our trip.
