BETA 2 BERTH
The new generation Spaceships have landed in New Zealand!  A newer model Toyota (with an even spacier shape); low mileage, bigger DVD screens, TV, new fridge freezer, new design portable cooker, bigger back awning and even a portable toilet option! 

Plus of course all the great features of the original Spaceship - being like a good car to drive, being part of the Space community, 24 roadside assistance, DVD exchange plus the extra support and guidance through our Space Stations.

Beta Spaceships come with two great added extras that you'll get standard with every hire:
- A complimentary GPS Navigation device so you can find your destinations with ease, anywhere and every time (normally $10 per day).
- Free camp table and two chairs. 

DRIVING IN COMFORT
This may possibly be the best rental vehicle to drive in New Zealand. The comfort, driving pleasure and stability of the new Beta Spaceship is truly brilliant.
They are perfectly suited to New Zealand’s rural back roads, hills and cities.

New features of the Beta Spaceship over the Alpha include:
Air bags, four cup holders, more spacious driver’s area, better storage, new and even spacier console design, smoother gear changes, more power and better fuel economy (saving $5-$10 per day)

In keeping with all Spaceships they are fun, safe and easy to drive.

SLEEPING IN YOUR SPACESHIP
Only Spaceships have two sleeping options allowing you to sleep inside with the back door closed or sleep outside by extending the bed into the rear awning for 30% more space and ventilation on those hot summer nights.

Spaceships are custom fitted with a very comfy large double bed which remains mostly set-up.

This design means you do not have to rearrange the internal layout, or move your gear for day and night use.

Having two options provides you with far greater flexibility. If the weather is not so good you can sleep inside but if it is a beautiful summers night you can extend the bed into the rear awning for 30% more space and most importantly some ventilation!

Either way you still end up with the same size bed and do not have to rearrange your gear or the internal Spaceship features.

Cooking
With two quality portable single burner Gasmate cookers, our customised cooker stand for cooking outside of the Spaceship only and a large side awning, cooking in outer space could not be easier.

Canisters can be purchased as a 2 pack when you collect your vehicle for only $6.00.

Two canisters should have an approximate burn time of 4 hours.

The large side awning is included with the beta Spaceship. This creates an excellent outdoor area for cooking and eating under, protected from the sun and rain.
You can also use the rear bed extension as a great table to prepare food on, or sit around with food and drinks.

SIDE AWNING
The side awning is a great feature that comes standard with your Beta Spaceship. It provides excellent shelter from the sun and rain for cooking or just sitting under with table and chairs reading a book.

It easily attaches to the roof and is self supporting with two tent poles. There is a side compartment which Velcro’s on to create an enclosed space for the portable toilet if required.

SELF-CHARGING BATTERY SYSTEM
All Spaceships are set up with two batteries. One battery starts the engine and the second battery powers the fridge/freezer, internal lights and stereo and DVD player.
This allows you to operate the fridge/freezer and watch a DVD while the engine is not running - this will run the auxiliary battery down but the Spaceship will always start on the other battery, and then self-charge as you drive.

This means you do not have to pay for powered sites like you would in an ordinary campervan or motorhome to charge your vehicle, saving you money and enabling you to go further off the beaten track.

Battery life on the second battery is between 12-24 hours depending on how many DVDs you watch!

CD/DVD/MP3 PLAYER
There is a 10inch DVD/TV screen mounted on a swivel arm in the rear of the Beta Spaceship. A CD player is mounted in the front with an ipod cord.

The extra screen size and quality make watching DVDs in our new Spaceship even Beta!

As with all spaceships you can access our Space Stations for nationwide support and DVD exchange. You can swap with any other Spaceships you see along the way as well.

SWIVEL SEAT DESIGN
The swivel seat in a Spaceship performs three functions which are unique to Spaceships.

PORTABLE TOILET
A Porta Potti or portable toilet is provided for free with the Beta Spaceship. This means you have your own toilet any time any place.

The portable toilets are comfortable and practical and do not have to be connected to a drain or water system.

They are stored in a fully secure container in the rear storage area. It does take up a fair amount of the storage space so if you are travelling with lots of gear you may choose not to take the portable toilet with you.

This is your decision but we do recommend taking a Porta Potti on your New Zealand adventure.

STORAGE
The same storage set up as the Alpha Spaceships applies except we have made a few improvements in the way the storage compartments open making life easier for the travellers.

The main storage is still accessed from the back and can store two large soft backpacks. We have improved the rear awning by including a large zip down area so you can access the rear storage compartment with the awning on. The internal storage area is where the cookers, cutlery and cooking equipment are stored and offers space for dry food storage.

A portable toilet is supplied standard with all Beta Models. This is stored in a container in the rear storage area. It does take up about a third of the space meaning a loss of storage space. There is still plenty of room to store gear on the bed as you travel or you can decided to take the portable toilet out if you do not want to travel with one.
The rear storage area is lockable and once again you do not have to re arrange the interior for day and night time use.
