Full Itinerary
This two day tour is the best way to see the Margaret River and surrounding region. It is truly one of the most spectacular regions in Western Australia. The drive down the coast and diversity of landscapes equals some of the best coastal drives in Australia.
Day One: We travel South through Rockingham which was one of the earliest settlements in W.A. It is closely associated with Captain Stirling's first landing on Garden Island in 1827 and the early years of the Swan River Settlement. We then head into Mandurah whose name is actually derived from the Aboriginal word, "mandjar", meaning the "meeting place".
We head further South and go to the Jewel Cave which is one of the caves not as populated as some of the others in the area. There are many flowstone canopies, including the famous Organ Pipes with the cave and Myriads of straws can be seen reflected in the lake at the lowest level of the cave. Photographers are encouraged, so take your cameras and get some rewarding shots.
Just before we get into the heart of the region we make a stop at where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse stands as a solitary sentinel and was totally manually operated until 1982 by a clockwork mechanism & kerosene burner, one of the last in the world.
Finally, after what is a long and exhausting day full of fresh sea air and dramatic coastline we arrive at your accommodation to enjoy your evening at leisure.
Day Two: After a leisurely breakfast we start exploring what this region is famous for; wine. World-class vineyards and wineries will tantalise your tastebuds like nowhere else. Responsible for only 1% of Australia's wine production, that small amount contributes 20% to the finest quality wines in Australia so you will be sure of some quality tastings. We will tailor the day to suit your palate before having a late lunch and then making the journey back to Perth late afternoon.
